Career Transition Coaching
Work is personal.
You can be doing good work and still feel like something has shifted.
The role may no longer fit. The organisation may have changed around you. You may be facing a restructure, feeling burnt out, questioning whether you still want the same things, or simply wondering what else you could do.
You don’t need to know the answer before you start.
Before deciding what’s next, understand what you need from work. Our four-session Career Transition Coaching programme helps you work that out, explore where it could exist and prepare to take your next move into the market.
Before deciding what's next, understand what you need from work.
GHMM helps you understand what you need from work to be at your best, and use that understanding to make better career decisions.
Greatest
The work you enjoy, what you're genuinely good at, and where those strengths create value.
Happiest
The conditions around the work that allow you to thrive: people, culture, autonomy, flexibility, relationships and environment.
Most Motivated
What gives you energy and commitment: impact, purpose, progress, development, achievement, money or something else.
The result is a clearer picture of what needs to be present in your working life for you to perform well, enjoy it and stay motivated.
Use that understanding to make better decisions.
Use what you've learned to ask:
- Does this work suit what I'm actually good at?
- Will this environment bring out my best?
- What do I need to ask before pursuing this?
- What compromises am I making?
- Which opportunity fits me better?
It becomes a decision lens for what you pursue, what you question and what you walk away from.
The four stages
- 01
Understand what you need from work
Develop your GHMM and identify the work and conditions that bring out your best.
- 02
Explore where that could exist
Look at roles, organisations, sectors, level, scope, location and working environments that could fit. Test those ideas through research and conversations.
- 03
Understand what you have to offer
Clarify your experience, capabilities and evidence and build a clear value proposition for the market.
- 04
Take it to the market
Prepare your CV and LinkedIn, engage recruiters and your network, investigate opportunities and start testing where the fit really is.
Understand yourself → Understand the market → Understand your value → Engage the market
Start where you need to.
The programme gives us a structure, but we don't have to work through it in a fixed order.
Some people start with GHMM because they want time to think about what they need from work. Others have an application deadline approaching and need to get their CV and application ready first.
We'll talk through what's happening for you and agree where to begin. If something needs attention now, we can focus on that and come back to the wider questions as we work together.

Peter de Boer
Peter is a coach, adviser and facilitator with a background leading teams and businesses in the professional services sector.
He created the GHMM framework to help people understand what enables them to do their best work - the work they are good at and enjoy, the conditions that allow them to thrive, and what keeps them motivated.
His work is grounded in helping people think more clearly about work, challenge assumptions and turn reflection into practical decisions and action. GHMM sits at the foundation of StellarCareers' Career Transition Coaching programme.
